Sally reaches Peak

MOSSLEY runner Sally Newman put her best foot forward to record a high-placed finish in the women’s race at the world championships for long distance running.
More than 750 athletes from 21 different countries were in action at the 54th Three Peaks race in the Yorkshire Dales with Newman finishing 10th overall and second in the over-40s category.
Czech Republic competitor Anna Pichrtova won the women’s race in a new course record of 3:14.43, six minutes ahead of Scottish athlete Angela Mudge.
Glasgow’s Jethro Lennox was the overall champion while Rossendale runner Kenneth Taylor was first in the men’s over-60 category.
