GLOSSOP got their quest for fourth place back on track as Darren Hamilton’s brace saw him take his tally of goals for the season to 20.
Number 19 came 10 minutes into the game when the ball was cleared upfield and it turned into a race between Hamilton and the keeper. Hamilton won, nicked the ball past the keeper and tapped into an empty goal.
Glossop’s lead was doubled on 36 minutes when the Bears gave the ball away in their own half, allowing Hollin to find Bailey whose shot went through Hamilton's legs and into the corner.
The second half was dominated by three crazy minutes, starting in the 62nd minute when Haddress looped the ball over Fielding. Gorton, Bailey and Acton then combined to give Hamilton his 20th goal of the season, but it was 3-2 a minute later when sloppy defending allowed Hirst’s header to dribble over the line.
Having been booked for pushing Jardine after his dangerous tackle on Young, Gorton was soon dismissed after a mistimed tackle. Although Glossop backs were against the wall, Fielding produced a good save the one time Town got through.
