GLOSSOP North End manager Steve Young was pleased with the performance, if not the result, after his side lost 1-0 to Salford City last Saturday.
By their own admission, promotion-chasing Salford were lucky to have come away with three points from Surrey Street.
North End twice hit the woodwork and created several opportunities, only to fall victim to City’s second-half winner.
Young said: "We came off the pitch very disappointed with the result after playing like we did, but the Salford management and directors said that they’d never been pinned back like that, that they were very lucky to have got the three points, and that they were full of admiration for us.
"It was disappointing not to have taken the three points, but the pleasing thing for me was the performance because we really took them to pieces for a lot of the game but we just could not convert our chances which was a shame.
"We made four or five really good chances that we were unable to convert and then gave a bit of a sloppy goal away which is par for the course with us."
