Tough test awaits

5/ 3/2008

GLOSSOP North End’s recent revival faces a stiff test this month when they face three of the Vodkat League’s pacesetters in a bid to secure a top-four finish come the end of the campaign.

Congleton Town, their rivals for fourth spot are Saturday’s opponents before they face top-three sides Newcastle Town and Salford City.

North End’s rise up the table has been a source of pride for manager Steve Young who has been thrilled at how they have shrugged off an indifferent start to the campaign to have a great chance of beating last year’s ninth place finish.

He said: "The lads have come together well. Some are finding it hard to keep with us because of their age, but physically they’re getting stronger and I’ve no complaints.

"If I go over the season we’ve had, we’ve only had three disappointing performances, but luckily, all they’ve all been away from home!"
