THE weather once again stayed fair for the players in the Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League and saw some fine batting performances.
Division one saw Stuart Jackson compile a solid 66 in Compstall’s 195-9 against Tintwistle, for whom Martin Harris took 5-45.
In reply, Tintwistle were blown away by Peter Richards (4-33) and Rick Shaw (4-48) as they were all out for 129.
Dinting compiled 200-9 against Old Glossop, Bleakley hitting an unbeaten 119, as Matt Woodcock took 5-79 for Old Glossop. Their reply ended with them on 150-7, Jamie Cannon making 33, as Danny Brightmore returned figures of 6-41.
Birch Vale overcame Dove Holes’ 174-7 to win by one wicket, while Newton were dismissed for 132 chasing Hayfield’s 147 all out.
The division two game between Buxworth and Broadbottom brought a 34-run victory for the former as they made 231-8 before bowling out Broadbottom for 197.
Chapel’s hopes of a return to division one were affected by a six-wicket defeat against Buxton after they were all out for 107 when batting first.
Hadfield defeated Whaley Bridge by 73 runs as Whaley were all out for 80 chasing Hadfield’s 153-8, during which Lee Martin hit 53 and Rick Ball 38.
Mottram went down by 48 runs against High Lane as they were all out for 94, having seen Wright take 6-32 and Fielding 3-31 in Lane’s total of 142.
Charlesworth were also beaten, dismissed for 139 having seen Woodley set them a target of 172, John Wardle taking 8-47 before making 38 for Charlesworth.
Action in division three brought a 71-run loss for Dove Holes at Birch Vale where they were skittled for 124 after the hosts had earlier made 195 all out.
Chapel went down by 45 runs against Hawk Green as they could only muster 162 all out after Green had compiled 207-9.
Newton could only make half of their opponents’ tally, dismissed for 82 chasing Hayfield’s 164 all out as Andy Ney took 7-38 for the winners.
Tintwistle lost by 20 runs against Compstall as they could only make 100 all out in response to their visitors’ tally of 120-9.
There was a victory for Dinting, one-wicket winners at Old Glossop where the home side had totalled 205-9 thanks to Andy James’ 93, only for Mike Parker (63) to see his side home.
As for division four, Broadbottom went down by 13 runs against Buxworth as they could only make 148 in reply to their visitors’ 161 all out.
Charlesworth were 63 all out after Woodley had compiled 227-9, while Mottram lost by nine wickets after High Lane bowled them out for 91.
The other game saw Hadfield lose by 15 runs against Whaley Bridge as Colin Wild’s 8-33 saw them dismissed for 106 after Whaley were 121 all out.
