Matt finish hands defeat to Dinting

LAST weekend’s Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire League action saw Dinting beaten by Hayfield in their division one, top-of-the-table encounter.
Hayfield won the toss and put Dinting in, dismissing them for 128 as Tom Jarvis took 4-38 despite Danny Brightmore’s 31.
John Coleman took 3-35 for Dinting but Matt Higginbottom’s unbeaten 61 saw Hayfield home by five wickets.
Newton were also defeated, going down by seven wickets against Birch Vale as they were all out for 133, Mark Barnard hitting 60.
However, Rick Johnson took 5-9 for Vale before making an unbeaten 63 to see his side to victory.
A high-scoring game at Dingle Park saw Rick Harris top score with 158 not out as Tintwistle reached 287-6 against an Old Glossop side who saw Andy King take 4-71.
In reply, Martin McGrail hit 86 from 50 balls before Old Glossop were all out for 262 as Jimmy Blackwell took 4-49.
Division two saw a run fest at Buxworth where Hollingworth’s Alex Halliday hammered 133 in his side’s 322-7 before Ian Morris (5-96) and Dave Morris (5-67) saw the hosts all out for 307 in reply, Chris Ripley with 83 and Mark Furness 76.
Hadfield lost by 37 runs as they were 91 all out against Buxton after dismissing them for 128.
Charlie Holden (3-20) and Eddie Ford (3-33) bowled Whaley Bridge to victory over High Lane, the latter all out for 120 after Bridge had compiled 162-8.
Mottram were 50-run winners against Charlesworth, making 193-9 before dismissing their visitors for 143, while Broadbottom fell four runs short at Woodley as they were shot out for 162 after the hosts were all out for 166.
A division three match at Birch Vale saw Newton victorious by six runs, Daz Bennett’s 3-32 seeing the hosts 216 all out after Nick Tansella hit 97 in Newton’s 222 all out.
Chapel saw off New Mills by 32 runs, making 150-8 before dismissing their visitors for 118, while Dinting compiled 236-5 before bowling out Hayfield for 162.
Elsewhere, Tintwistle recorded a 24-run victory over Old Glossop by making 183-7 and then dismissing their opponents for 159.
As for division four, Hadfield claimed a seven-wicket victory at Buxton where the hosts were all out for 121, while Whaley Bridge won by the same margin against High Lane by skittling their visitors for 97.
Broadbottom lost by seven wickets against Woodley despite reaching 200-6, while Hollingworth were 135 all out chasing Buxworth’s 185 all out.
