A 60-YEAR-OLD woman had to be air-lifted from the hills above Glossop after badly breaking her leg.

The woman had been out walking with a group of friends on the Doctors Gate Pass from Glossop to the Snake Pass summit.

At about 3pm on Sunday, Glossop Mountain Rescue Team arrived to help the woman, who had fallen near Rose Clough.

Mountain rescuers found that the woman, who is from Oldham, had broken her lower right leg in several places.

She was treated on the spot with pain killers by the rescuers and her leg was put into a splinter.

The air-ambulance arrived at around 4pm and she was directly taken to Wythenshawe Hospital.
