Killer on the loose in Old Glossop!

OLD Glossop residents should lock their doors - there's a killer on the loose...

Actually, it's former TV presenter Matthew Kelly in his chilling role as a serial killer in ITV1 drama, Cold Blood.

Old Glossop was chosen to star as the remote village where police are investigating a murder linked to a killing spree carried out by Kelly's character, Brian Wicklow.

Location manager Andy Morgan needed to find a suitably atmospheric location and thought the village ticked all the right boxes.

"I lived in Sheffield and drove to Manchester every day so I knew it well. I showed it to the directors and they liked it," he said.

Some of the drama will be filmed in the Northern Glass Works on Manor Park Road, where one character is found hanged.

Managing director Kevin Knott said: "It's set in a picture framers and we have a small picture framing arm so they chose to come here. We'll be shutting down just for the day while they use the building."

Cameramen will also be setting up their equipment at All Saints Church and in Wesley Street.

Old Glossop councillor Ivan Bell said he welcomed any exposure the area could get.

"Any publicity like this is marvellous. It's the old part of Glossop and its heritage is fantastic," he said.

Jemma Redgrave and John Hannah also star in the show, which is set to air later in the year.
