Secret camera gives you a bird’s eye view

A GLOSSOP company has thought of a new way to watch the birdie - from the comfort of your own armchair.

Now wildlife enthusiasts can watch what's going on in their garden 24/7 with a bird box fitted with a camera and plugged into their television.

Birds' Eye View Cameras, based on Park Close, Glossop, is the brainchild of Chris Horsfield who came up with the idea after watching BBC programmes Autumn Watch and Spring Watch.

"A lot of people have seen the programmes and thought 'we can't do that sort of thing in our gardens', but they can," he said.

"We do boxes for birds and also for mammals such as hedgehogs, foxes, badgers or owls.

"Whatever wildlife is in your garden, we can capture it on camera for you.

"You can watch what happens live on your television or plug it into a VCR and record it. It's easy to install and if you do need extra assistance, we are more than willing to help."

Despite getting up close to the birds and mammals, Chris says the cameras won't ruffle any feathers as the wildlife won't even know they're there.

"There's no extra heat, noise or light so the birds don't know the camera is there and from that point of view, it's the best way to watch wildlife," he said. "We've had great feedback - it's enjoyable and educational."
