A FOOTBALL manager has been charged with violent conduct, offensive language and threatening behaviour by the FA after an alleged incident during a match.

Roe Cross Simmondley boss David Brightmore was sent off during the 4-1 Sunday league defeat against Hare Hill Tavern at King George's playing fields in Audenshaw.

Now Derbyshire FA chiefs have hit Mr Brightmore - who is also Hyde District League secretary - with charges of violent conduct, offensive language and threatening behaviour. He has 21 days to respond to the charges.

Phil Curran, vice-chairman of Hyde district league, said: "We are not willing to comment at this stage.

"Instead we will wait until the matter is dealt with by the FA."

Keith Compton, secretary of Derbyshire FA, said: "We have received an official report from the referee and consequently charged Mr Brightmore with violent conduct, offensive language and threatening behaviour.

"We are awaiting his response."

Mr Brightmore refused to comment on the matter.
