Remember to recycle your Christmas tree

Tom Rowley

GLOSSOP folk are being urged to get 2007 off to a green start by having their Christmas trees and cards recycled.

Trees will be chipped to form a compost mulch and can be left at four local recycling points between Monday, 8 January and Monday, 22 January.

They are: Corn Mill car park, Manor Park, Glossop; Bankswood Park, off Park Road, Hadfield; Sexton Street car park, Tintwistle and the recreation ground on Marple Road, Charlesworth.

Recycling points will be clearly marked and High Peak Council is asking people not to `take other waste to these sites.

The council will also be providing a collection bin to enable folk to recycle their Christmas cards, in the main reception of the Municipal Buildings in Glossop. The bin will be in place from Wednesday, 3 January to Monday, 22 January.

Log onto the council website at www.highpeak.gov.uk for a full list of recycling sites in High Peak.
