Margaret’s memory seat

30/ 8/2006

A COMMEMORATIVE seat will serve as a permanent reminder of one woman's stalwart service to a cricket club.

Longstanding Charlesworth and Chisworth Cricket Club member Bob Wilkinson presented the bench - situated outside the clubhouse - in memory of his wife Margaret, who prepared refreshing teas at the club when son-in-law David Lee was captain of the first XI.

Bob, who lives at the rear of the club, presented the bench to club president Norman Redfern in a recent ceremony.

Club chairman Alan Burgoyne said: "Margaret spent many a happy hour preparing teas at the club. The seat will be a reminder to all at the club of a supporter and a loving wife, who has gone but will not be forgotten."
