We've got real appeal

TESCO is set to make it a very merry Christmas for our Age Concern tin appeal.

The supermarket has put its support behind our drive to collect food parcels for the elderly in Glossop who - whether through illness, living alone or financial difficulty - are facing a tough time this Christmas.

The store has been part of our appeal for many years and is especially keen to take part this year as Age Concern is Tesco's chosen charity nationally.

Charities co-ordinator Kay Tompkins said: "We've supported the appeal for a long time because it is such a good cause and people know exactly where their donations are going.

"We get lots of letters from different charities asking for donations, but we try to support things locally. If people are coming in to shop, it's so easy to buy an extra tin of something and drop it in the box."

Age Concern collect and deliver around 250 food parcels each year to needy pensioners across the Glossopdale area.

Every donation makes a difference and all we ask is that you add an extra item to your list when you go shopping.

Tins of soup or fruit, variety packs of cereals, Christmas puddings and packets of sweets and biscuits are welcome. Think small though, as many old folk may live alone and larger packs may go off.

As well as Tesco, you can also drop your donations into Glossop Volunteer Bureau, Bradbury Community House and Decor 8 on Henry Street.
