Masked raider targets post office

A WOMAN was threatened and knocked to the floor during a robbery at Gamesley Post Office.

A masked offender burst into the shop at around 9.30am on Saturday and forced his way into the private staff area.

He pushed the female shop assistant to the floor and demanded she hand over the keys to the safe. The male then waited for the safe to open before taking the cash inside and making off.

The robber was described as 5ft 10ins tall and in his early 20s. He wore dark clothing including a dark hooded top and had a mask or scarf covering his face.

It is also thought he may have had an accomplice who was waiting in a car outside the post office on Winster Mews.

Police are appealing for information about the robbery and are keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who was around the shopping precinct at that time and noticed anything suspicious.
