Ghislaine’s home is where the art is

GHISLAINE Howard's Glossop home is brushed with success - literally.

In a unique transformation, the popular artist has turned her mum's house into a new art gallery.

The building - above Ghislaine's studio on Oak Street, Glossop - was derelict up until two years ago when her parents decided to refurbish it.

But when the family decided against moving in, Ghislaine hit upon the idea to use it as a gallery.

Paintings by Ghislaine, husband, Mike, and daughter Cordelia are displayed in different rooms of the house and visitors are invited to wander round.

The gallery was officially opened at the weekend to a 'fantastic' response.

Ghislaine said: "People felt really at home in the space and said it was a really warm and inviting place to be.

"Art galleries can often be daunting places, so hopefully, this will encourage more people who wouldn't normally visit to come and have a look around."

She added: "I have worked in Glossop for 20 years and I thought it would be really nice to let people in the town see what I do.

"I'm known for big figurative works, but I also do a lot of landscape paintings when I'm out walking, which people don't often get to see.

"This way I can show a range of works, including some of the smaller and more affordable pieces. It's nice because I can include everything from very early pieces to more modern work."
