Brushed with success

CHILDREN are joining in the campaign to keep Glossop spick and span.
All schools are to be given a Tidy Glossop pack filled with ideas and information about reducing litter and waste around the town.
The pack contains information about local refuse and recycling services and a host of other tips about caring for the environment.
Youngsters will also be able to watch a DVD - produced by the Hands On Youth Project - which won the recent Tidy Glossop film competition.
The scheme has been organised by Glossop Vision, working with High Peak Borough Council, to promote litter and waste education to all sectors of the community.
John Hart, chairman of Glossop Vision, said: "It is important to work with schools to engage young people in caring for our town.
"We hope that the Tidy Glossop packs will provide a toolkit for waste and litter education and that they help encourage children to keep the town tidy both now and in the future."
Glossop Vision has a range of litter-picking equipment which can be borrowed by school groups free of charge.
Council officers are also available to visit schools and talk to pupils and staff about recycling projects.
Anyone who would like more information about the Keep Glossop Tidy campaign or wants to arrange a school visit can contact Sarah Parkin on 01457 1297777 extension 3523 or email glossopvision@highpeak.gov.uk.
