POLICE are appealing for information about an alleged assault and false imprisonment.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw a man and woman travelling in a grey Vauxhall estate car along the Snake or Woodhead Pass on the afternoon of Tuesday, 23 August.

They would particularly like to hear from a man who was seen walking near a reservoir in the area and may have witnessed an alleged assault.

The exact location is unknown but the reservoir is described as having canoes on the water with a cafe and a clay-pigeon shooting range nearby.

A 34-year-man from Sheffield was arrested in connection with the incident and has been charged with false imprisonment and assault.

He appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court on 25 August and was released on bail.

Anyone with any information, in particular the member of the public seen walking at the reservoir that day, is urged to contact DC Claire Brammer from South Yorkshire Police on 0114 296 4751.

Information can also be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
