RETIRING: John Bull
John says farewell to council role

ONE familiar face was missing from this year's elections - Derbyshire County Councillor John Bull.
After 16 years representing the people of Glossop South, John, 62, has retired from his roles of county councillor and deputy chairman of the Peak National Park Authority.
The community stalwart started out as a member of Hayfield Parish Council and gained his county seat in 1989 working for Gamesley, Simmondley, Charlesworth, Chisworth and Hayfield.
He said: "The boundary changes brought in this year meant my whole area would change and I wouldn't know about some of the issues so it seemed an appropriate time to stand down.
"I've enjoyed every minute though and I'm particularly pleased that since 1997 we now have more funding for schools."
John, a former English lecturer, plans to spend his spare time travelling and catching up on his reading and writing.
