Return of the Lowestoft Evacuees

VISING Glossop on Wednesday and Thursday August 27th and 28th will be a number of former evacuees from Lowestoft.
They are some of those who, as children were sent to the safety of Glossop from the east coast in the early 1940's.
Their nostalgic trip will include visiting their old haunts and meeting up with old friends, including old school friends from the Grammar School, Duke of Norfolk School, Littlemoor, St. Lukes Infants etc..
They will also be making a presentation of a Lowestoft Porcelain Plaque and some Lowestoft Evacuee Books to the Glossop Heritage Centre where they will be put on display. The ceremony will be followed by a conducted tour of Glossop.
The visitors will include Chris and Janet Brooks, Geoff and Mrs. Durrant, Stella Turner (nee Burgess), Alma Mumuford (nee Wyntle), Jean Cowlbeck (nee Lockwood), Maureen Meadows (daughter of Margaret Bunn), Brian Howard, Dorothy Dew (nee Howard), Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Collinson and Mrs. Alma Mingay (nee Long).
All the visitors will be in the George Hotel, Norfolk Street, between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday August 27th and 28th. They invite old acquaintances to come along for a bit of a "do you remember" gossip.
