Chance to see plans for primary care centre

PEOPLE have the chance to see how Glossop’s new primary care centre will look.

The proposed centre on George Street in the town centre will include minor surgery and dental services, consulting rooms and clinics as well as rooms where community groups can meet in the evenings and at weekends.

An exhibition is being held today (Thursday) at Bradbury Community House on Market Street, Glossop, ahead of Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust submitting an planning application to High Peak Council in the near future.

It is envisaged the 1,300sq m centre will open in summer 2010 if planners give the go-ahead.

Visitors can view the proposals and discuss them with planning consultants acting on behalf of the trust. Residents will also have the opportunity to give their own views about the scheme.

Facilities within the new centre will include the treatment of audiology, podiatry, speech and language therapy, optometry and mental health problems.

Training

There will also be rooms for district nurses and health visitors as well as staff training rooms.

The new building will be designed to be environmentally friendly and include the use of natural light and ventilation wherever possible, solar water heating, ground source heating and solar photo voltaics for on-site electricity generation.

The new centre will also be landscaped to integrate it with nearby Glossop Brook.

Folk will be able to view the exhibition from noon-8pm.
