Passenger attacks bus driver

A BUS driver was attacked by a passenger who also tried to grab a bag full of change.
After claiming he had not been dropped at the right stop, the man kicked the door of the single-decker Avondale bus to try and force it open.
He then approached the 49-year-old driver, grabbed him and punched him several times in the face, causing a cut nose and a scratch under the eye.
The assailant then made a grab for the bag of cash, before making off down Hathersage Crescent, Gamesley. He is described as black and in his 50s.
Witnesses and anyone with more information about the incident — which occurred around 4.30pm last Wednesday —should call police on 0845 1233333 or the Crimestoppers free and confidential hotline on 0800 555111.
