Have your say over park plans

30/ 4/2008

RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say on how grant money will be spent in parks.

The focus is on Bankswood Park and play areas in Brosscroft and Newshaw Lane in Hadfield.

The funding is part of a £200,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund to improve play facilities throughout High Peak.

In addition, £10,000 has been secured from Johnnie Johnson Housing to develop the play area in Brosscroft.

A total of £435,000 has been spent modernising play areas across the borough over the past two years, including Manor Park, Shirebrook, Gamesley and Whitfield in Glossop and Temple Street and Bankswood in Hadfield.

Councillor Andrew Bingham, council executive member for social and community development, said: "This is the next step of the council’s improvement plan for local play facilities and we want everyone living in the area to get involved and put forward their ideas.

"It’s vitally important that as many people as possible give us their views on how we can spend this money, so please make sure you complete a questionnaire when you receive one.

"If you have time, why not come along to the meeting planned where you can view some of the exciting proposals and discuss possible ideas with local councillors and council staff?"

Residents living in Hadfield near to the park and play areas will shortly be receiving a questionnaire to gain their opinion on how they should be developed.

A ‘drop-in’ meeting has also been planned for Thursday, 15 May at Hadfield Youth Centre on Newshaw Lane between 6-8pm.

For a questionnaire and more details contact Sally Curley on 0845 1297777 extension 2205 or email: sallyc@highpeak.gov.uk and questionnaires can also be completed online at www.highpeak.gov.uk/consultation/consult.asp.
