ALMOST half of the cash to be spent on road improvements and repairs in High Peak this month is to be spent in Glossop.
Of the £323,583 allocated to High Peak, £115,905 is to be spent on road re-surfacing on Philip Howard Road, Market Street and Chapel Street in the town centre; £15,400 on bus stop improvements and £10,000 on a review of roundabouts on the A57 Simmondley Road.
Councillor Brian Lucas, county council cabinet member for environmental services, said: "Improving the road network is a priority for the council. We continue to work hard to improve and maintain the condition and safety of our roads and pavements for local people."
More than £1m is to be spent on the roads in Derbyshire, part of a £12m package of government transport funding to support a range of measures identified in the council’s local transport plan for 2006-11.
